Holder's dream year with the ball

1994 - Jason Holder's 5 for 56 is the first five-wicket haul by a West Indies fast bowler in India since Kenny Benjamin's five for during the Mohali Test in 1994. The only other two overseas fast bowlers to have taken five-fors in the last two years are Josh Hazlewood and Ben Stokes.

4 - Number of five-wicket hauls for Holder in Tests in 2018 - the most by any bowler. All of them come in the last four Tests, three in succesive innings. He is the first West Indies fast bowler since Courtney Walsh (in 2000) to take four five-wicket hauls in a calendar year. Holder is one of only seven captains to pick up four or more five-fors in a year and first in last 10 years.

11.87 - Holder's bowling average this year - the best for any fast bowler with a minimum of 30 wickets in a calendar year in the last 100 years. He has taken 33 wickets in six matches at that outstanding average. His average (during the calendar year) is the best for any bowler, pacer or spinner, in the last 50 years. The last time any bowler picked 30 or more wickets at average of under 15 was Shoaib Akhtar in 2003.

5 - Number of captains to take a five-wicket haul in India. The last time someone did this was Daniel Vettori during the 2010 tour, also in Hyderabad. Richie Benaud (twice), Fazal Mahmood and Walsh are the others to have achieved this.

56 - India's lead in the first innings. This is the least they've gone ahead by in the last eight Tests against West Indies. The average lead of India in the last six Tests (one was shortened) against West Indies is 292. The leads read: 219, 313, 323, 304, 128 and 468.
